Mike Rimmer tells his story: "I graduated with an honours degree in applied chemistry from Wolverhampton University in 1993. I joined Brandon Medical as operations director in 2011, and immediately embarked on an operations improvement programme that transformed the fortunes of the company. In 2017, I set up an internal STEM team to promote manufacturing to schools, colleges and universities in the Leeds City Region as part of the Leeds Manufacturing Festival in 2018 and 2019. We really need to demonstrate the many benefits of joining the manufacturing industry, and all the opportunities available, to the youngsters coming out of education and into employment. What qualities must future leaders have?
